What to do next to prepare @principal.name for parental leave

will be going out on parental leave in a few months. It’s time to develop their transition plan!

Take these actions

  • Meet with @principal.name this week to begin developing their transition plan.

Develop their transition plan

@principal.name should come prepared with a list of projects they are working on, their day-to-day tasks, important dates and milestones, and suggestions for who they think work could be transitioned to in their absence.

This is only a starting point for a transition plan that you and your report will develop together.

Some questions to discuss during this meeting:

  • Will projects/customers be temporarily or permanently transitioned to someone else on the team?
  • Do you have the internal resources to perform the work in their absence or should you hire additional staff?
  • What needs to be completed before they go on leave and what help do they need to complete these activities (and from whom?)?
  • What are the key projects/tasks they are working on that will need to continue through their leave?
    undefined
  • What cover do you think is required to ensure their role and its requirements are met during their leave?
  • How would they like to communicate this transition to customers/vendors they work with?

After this meeting

  • Collaborate with your report to complete their transition plan.
  • Work with your report to coordinate with people who will pick up project work, as appropriate.
  • Schedule the final meeting with your report 3-4 weeks before their anticipated leave date.

You will receive a detailed Pyn a week in advance of this last meeting that outlines what to prepare.
