Pyn Pays the Rent
We are incredibly lucky that Pyn originated on the lands of the Gadigal people on Eora country, which is also known as Sydney, Australia.
We're proud to continue to grow our business here (and around the world). And we pay the rent: 1% of Pyn's annual revenues is paid to local, aboriginal led community organizations.
Why we pay
Australia is an incredibly prosperous nation, but unfortunately, this generated wealth is disproportionately distributed. All people who live here today, or who lived here in the past, have not benefited equally from the dispossession of Indigenous land.
If you live in someone's house, you have to pay the rent. We work on the unceded lands of the Gadigal people. Paying the Rent is a step towards acknowledging the facts of colonalization, injustice and inequality in wealth.
Pyn started on these beautiful lands - with its rich Aboriginal culture, art (imagery on our website of Aboriginal art is properly licensed), and people.
And it always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
More information
We could't find a Pay the Rent initiative for the state of NSW online. But the initiative in Victoria has a great website with more information.
