The year is almost over, so in the spirit of #spotifywrapped we're wrapping up Pyn’s achievements from 2022 with a bow. Throughout this blog we'll share plenty of free tools and resources to support you in the new year. To stay up to date with what's new in 2023, subscribe to our newsletter, PynPoint.
First, I want to say thanks to a long list of new customers who joined us in 2022, including amazing brands like Arctic Wolf, Linktree, Axonius. I also want to thank our PynPoint subscribers and community member, their feedback helps us build the best open source HR resources.
Our customers and community keep us focused on our mission to help employees and managers thrive through timely and personalized employee communications.
Below, our year in review!
Our platform kept getting better
Pyn gives busy employees and managers everything they need as they encounter important moments at work. Whether it's onboarding, career conversations or salary reviews, Pyn helps companies provide their people with timely support.
So, what did we build in 2022 to improve that? Turns out - a lot! Here are a few highlights.
Your HR Calendar got an upgrade. With a few clicks, HR teams can add comms for global or local holidays & observances to their calendar.
Out of the box automations were added to support people at more moments:
anniversaries, career growth conversations, probation, promotions, offboarding, and parental leave.
Onboarding Buddy Program, a seamless Slack/Email flow to nudge new starters, their buddies, and manager, was added to Pyn’s already robust onboarding workflows.
We released a new Gmail Integration, expanded our Slack integration to include sending to a Slack Channel, and enabled Pyn users to set up a custom domain and sender.
New search & Dashboards made it easy for customers to see exactly what messages are scheduled and check stats like open or action rates.
HRIS integrations were added for UKG, Paylocity and Successfactors.
Our communication library grew...a lot.
We’re building the largest library of employee communications. Our customers use the hundreds of Pyn templates to provide detailed and relevant instructions to their people.
We also open sourced our library of communications, so now anyone can get access to 200+ expert written employee communications templates through our Open Library.
We expanded our library to provide best practice communications across onboarding, employee wellbeing, offboarding, and buddy programs.
We released templates immediately following current events, like Roe v Wade, Ukraine Crisis, and Layoffs.
We released many open source resources
In addition to the Open Library, here are five more open source resources you’ll definitely want to bookmark:
- 2023 HR Calendar: All holidays & observances + links to employee comms
- HR Conferences in 2023: a very comprehensive list of 140+ events
- Employee journey mapping: The process and handy tools
- Layoffs: How to prepare and communicate them well
- Guide to inclusive and equitable workplace communications
We wrote about current events
When we choose what to write about, we’re always considering how you may need to respond to current events when communicating with employees. We’re also here to provide support for how the HR role continues to evolve in response to the ever-changing times.

We hosted many webinars and in-person events
With Zoey Weaver joining Pyn, this year, in addition to hiring a founding growth member, we hired someone with serious pottery skills. So, we launched Pottery & HR Plottery, a series of intimate get togethers for HR leaders.
Over the past 6 months we hosted vulnerable discussions between HR leaders across the US (and soon Australia), where participants got to build connections while creating unique pottery pieces everyone got to keep
We also hosted many webinars, if you couldn't make it (or want to relive your favorite) here are the 3 most popular on replay:
- How to build an onboarding buddy program (that people like!)
- Inclusive Communications at Work
- Post-pandemic predictions for HR
We released a new brand. An “Award Winning brand” it turns out. We won an Award for Best Digital Brand Expression given by the Australian Graphic Design Association, with thanks to our brand agency Joseph Mark. With this new brand we launched our new website.
We also won the trophy for Best HR Tech startup awarded at APACs biggest HR and L&D conference, HR Tech Fest!
Whew! What a year it has been.
We’re excited to be with you as we enter a new year. If you have a friend or colleague who would benefit from receiving PynPoint each month, they can join the community here.
