Pyn’s Employee Journey Designer allows companies to design their employee experience. An Employee Journey Map helps organize the work that needs to be done to ensure your employee experience is top-notch.
A journey map includes Moments that Matter, from before their first day on the job until after their last day. These Moments are pivotal events during an employee's journey at the company that have an outsized impact on their overall experience.
Who owns what in an Employee Journey Map?
Creating an exceptional employee experience is a team effort, and it’s important to have clear ownership across your employee journey map. This way, everyone understands their role in the bigger picture.
Take an example of a Moment that Matters; someone is promoted to manager.
The image below shows examples of communications or processes companies may implement to guide the person through the experience of being promoted (this is called a Touchpoint within Pyn’s Journey Mapper).
At the Touchpoint level, you can assign who is responsible for improving and maintaining the experience in each Touchpoint, this is the assigned owner (Sally Bennett in the first example below).
Clearly assigning an owner for each Touchpoint means things don’t fall through the cracks and you provide positive experiences for employees during their most important moments.

Assigning Owners in Pyn’s Employee Journey Mapper
Assigning an owner to a Touchpoint is lightning fast.

Once you’ve assigned Owners you can use filters to view all Touchpoints through the Employee Journey Map that is owned by a certain team (ea L&D) or individual.
5 ways CPOs can run their HR team better using assigned ownership
1. Onboarding new HR team members
Ex IDEO and Hulu HR leader, John Foster, explained that having an Employee Journey Map and giving every team member ownership over certain touchpoints helps them see how their work fits into the wider people function.
He compared it with a subway map. Even when you are new to a city, you can look at a subway map and instantly where you are, what the stations are, and how to get to your destination.
You can use your Employee Journey Map and assigned ownership to work with HR team members on the parts of the journey map they are responsible for.
John says he does this with direct and skip level reports, “It both helps me to really understand their work, and it creates a great coaching opportunity for them. It's a great career development process for HR people to understand the whole function better,” he explains.
2. Coaching or career development of HR team members
3. HR Goal setting and analytics
HR metrics like engagement or turnover are lagging indicators, meaning the measured results are only visible months or years after your initiatives have been implemented.
For HR leaders to inspire their team, the measurement of “Coverage” is a more “leading indicator,” meaning it’s data that helps to anticipate trends. “Coverage” measures the percentage of Moments that Matter in the Employee Journey that are proactively managed to support the employees as they encounter them.
For HR team members to understand which employee journey moment they ‘own’ or manage, and how improving those moments will help improve “coverage” can be incredibly motivating.
4. Increased HR team efficiency
Eliminating duplicate efforts and streamlining processes saves time and resources.
Felicitas Schweiker, VP People at Parkdepot, suggests HR leaders to “Involve your team. they're delivering on moments (Employee Journey Moments), they're creating new moments, maybe you don't even know what moments they're working on.” She suggests having everyone list the moments they work on day-to-day.
5. Better HR team output or performance
Clear ownership of responsibilities across the employee journey creates a more cohesive and responsive HR department, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable employee experience.
